Graphics, sound and multimedia • Re: [Pi5] DPI Interlaced mode not working

We will continue to manufacture the Pi 4 until at least 2031.
Thank you for keeping the Pi4 alive for now and until then. I recently got Pi5 for CRT RGB output.
I also found that the Pi5 inherently has a video interference issue through GPIO. (Two Pi5's tested, two different RGB hats, different CRT project images, different power supplies (official pi5 one), exact same cables, same CRT TV etc.) Perfect with the Pi4, but after only swapping board to Pi5 and you see some video noise. It's very very slight and something a lot of people wouldn't be able to notice I think, it also requires a very noise-free CRT TV.

A dev I've been talking to said that it's probably related to the differences in GPIO speed/latency, something along those lines, and linked me this thread.

The interference patterns look like waves of lines and s-shaped patterns that move sporadically across the whole screen, visible on solid colors like blue or white. It's easier to catch further away from the screen.

For now I'll be sticking to Pi4, but hopefully these things can be corrected for Pi6 down the line. Until then I'm glad I can keep recommending the Pi4 to people in this CRT niche :)
