haven't you been asked if you're working on a MAC? This has nothing to do with your Pi! Your OS told you there is a conflict with known_hosts on a particular line. Editing the file by removing the line number provided will do.OK folks, I *finally* have been able to get into my Pi via SSH.
After stumbling around this afternoon with ssh,, I got a message from SSH that some host key had been changed, and that I should add 192.168.40.76 to my known_hosts file. That gave me something to look for, and I found it. In that file, there were 3 or 4 entries for 192.168.40.76, as well as the expected ones for 10.1.whatever. Not knowing what else to do, I removed all the entries for 192.168.40.76, and tried again:
ssh 192.168.40.76
This time I got:
The authenticity of host '192.168.40.76 (192.168.40.76)' can't be established.
ED25519 key fingerprint is SHA256:0kksN7p85pP/aCBXuMnpXYCdOiNnrMM2pwtdBinNh1g.
This key is not known by any other names.
Are you sure you want to continue connecting (yes/no/[fingerprint])?
I replied 'yes.'
I got:

I entered the password I had set for myself, and after a few more messages about things having to do with Debian Linux, I got the command prompt:
spereira@raspberrypi: ~ $
An ls command confirmed that I'm in.
Now I will be scouring the Raspberry Pi documentation for any hints about how to fix my display.
Again, any advice you may have to offer would be greatly appreciated.
