I added

#!/usr/bin/python3

to my script and with or without

/bin/bash

I still received an error.

thank you for you last suggestion. I added it to

ExecStart=/home/randy/Documents/GitHub/smrtpype-sensor-sampler/.venv/bin/python3 /home/randy/Documents/GitHub/smrtpype-sensor-sampler/sensor.py

and my script took off!
