Why doesn’t the Zero card work in the Zero?
Any suggestions?

Have you tried re-flashing that card (e.g. with rpi-imager) and seeing if it works on the pi zero?

You just seem to be reporting an sdcard you own doesn't boot. That may be because:
It was never correctly imaged.
It was correctly imaged, but has become corrupt.
The case is physically faulty.
