It probably isn't.It's probably a tone control pot. Some of these have a fourth terminal half way. Are you sure you've wired the two ends and not a fourth terminal if there is one, which would give the effect you mention.I just noticed that the taper is "linear, audio." That should be fine, though, so long as it isn't logarithmic, right?
