Rpi-Connect is great. One thing that I would like to see is for the core package (rpi-connect) to distinguish whether an active desktop is currently running and if not, limit to just remote shell access rather than dis-allowing access to rpi-connect when the desktop is currently not active. On my installs where I am using a larger storage device, I install the full package but typically run with no active desktop to save system memory resources.rpi-connect and rpi-connect-lite 2.4.0 is now available to download which expands rpi-connect doctor to also check the requirements for screen sharing, namely:
- Is a supported Wayland desktop session available for the current user?
- Are all the required systemd services enabled and running?
Alternatively, I assume I could install both rpi-connect and rpi-connect-lite, and turn one on as needed, but it seems like the functionality should exist to actively switch rpi-connect modes as part of the process of shutting down or turning on wayland in raspi-config.
