There's a pretty good chance it's just NetworkManager doing the work beneath the GUI. To figure out the necessary for nmcli/nmtui on Lite, you could try to figure out what the GUI is configuring. I'd suggest copying /etc/NetworkManager, use the GUI to create the desired config, then doing a "diff -r" between the copy and active /etc/NetworkManager directories.Love these forums...Learn something new every day!

Select from the taskbar plugin
advanced options
create wifi hotspot.
Then just follow the instructions on the screen.
Although it's fairly basic, it's cool that this is provided on GUI-full systems.
AFAIK there's nothing like it for Lite, though.
