As far as I can see it uses PSRAM in SPI mode, not QSPI, in which case there's not so much difference between read and write (72/64 clocks)
Probably it is also "Special optimized functions are provided for writing 8, 16, and 32 bit data as fast as possible."
What PSRAM chip and frequency are you using ?
