I agree, it's good only for some niche cases.So I still come to the same conclusion: DMA for memset can beat the CPU, but not by much and only when there's not much else going on in the machine for it to conflict with. There could be special cases where this does actually make sense, but seems unlikely to be common.
It would also interfere with eventual other DMA channels.
Now I wonder if RISC-V core is better in this regard ... please don't shoot.
