Wow, I just wrote a simple project (it just monitors an input, sends it to an mqtt broker, monitor a topic to switch on an output) using gpiozero on a pi zero W and I found it was using 12% of the cpu just for monitoring that single input, then I found this thread.
So my only option is to switch to gpiod?
