Hi Michel_0,

It sounds like you’ve got a pretty specific set of requirements, and I think I might have a solution for you. Have you checked out freedns.afraid.org? It’s a free dynamic DNS service that ticks a lot of your boxes.

Here’s why I think it could work for you:

Dynamic DNS Update API: Yes, it supports this, and it’s pretty straightforward to set up.

A and AAAA Records: You can set up both IPv4 and IPv6 records on the same domain.

Subdomains: You can create multiple subdomains (I’ve personally got one set up for my Raspberry Pi 5 under raspberrydevice.com).

IPv6 Support: It handles IPv6 updates, including prefix updates, which seems to be a key requirement for you.

Wildcard Subdomains: While I haven’t tested this myself, I believe it supports wildcard subdomains as well.

I’ve been using freedns.afraid.org for a while now, and it’s been rock-solid for my needs. I’ve got a subdomain hosted there (something like rpi.raspberrydevice.com), and it’s been great for accessing my devices remotely. Plus, it’s free, which is always a bonus!

It might not have the most polished interface, but it’s incredibly flexible and powerful once you get the hang of it. Definitely worth a look if you’re trying to avoid paid services like Strato.
