(It's entirely possible I missed mentions of this issue during a quick scan of this thread and I apologise if so. Just point me to it and don't spank me too hard)

I just used usb-boot to update a Pi 5 which has been booting from an nvme HAT. Since I don't have any usb->nvme thing to do it directly from rpi-imager etc I wrote a new SD card (from the excellent sdm tool), booted from that with the SSD unplugged and let it do its little dance of setup. After that I downloaded usb-boot and ran it as usual. Unfortunately things appeared to go a bit wierd with complaints about files from the mounted filesystems - which would very overfill the SSD.
The best I could come up with was commenting out the mount in /etc/fstab and rebooting to try again. This ran usb-boot ok and then I just had to reinstate the fstab line.

I suspect, from a quick look at the usb-boot script, that adding an extra exclude clause to the rsync command would solve this, but I don't know how to generate the right sort of exclude. I guess some incantation or other would reveal all the externally mounted things to avoid but I Am Not A Shell Expert.
