Option One:
Option Two:
See the links I gave you in the second post in this thread.
Option One:
- Enable internet connection sharing on your laptop. Assuming that is that the laptop doesn't use ethernet for its internet access.
- Install Raspberry Pi OS. Remember to create a user, enable ssh and enable vnc.
- Connect the ethernet cable
- Boot
- Give it ten minutes or so. A fresh install will reboot at least once during this time.
- Attempt to connect from the laptop using hostname or hostname.local e.g raspberrypi or raspberrypi.local. Or run a network scanner to find its IP address and use that.
Option Two:
- Enable mDNS/avahi/bonjour on your laptop's ethernet interface (name and steps vary by OS)
- Install Raspberry Pi OS Legacy. Remember to create a user, enable ssh and enable vnc.
