Don't do step 7 and follow this post instead https://forums.raspberrypi.com/viewtopi ... 1#p2311771 and add the line below to config.txt as your step7.

Code:

dtoverlay=spi0-waveshare-SK30896-pi5,i2c1
step 8 is to download the overlay file (sorry, I will not explain to you what this is as you don't show enough interrest to figure it out yourself) posted here https://forums.raspberrypi.com/download ... p?id=72819

As Step 9 you will have to unzip it first

Code:

unzip spi0-waveshare-SK30896-pi5.dtbo.zip
that overlay will start the driver for display and touch.

Step 10 is copying the file 'spi0-waveshare-SK30896-pi5.dtbo' into your overlays folder, reboot and your display+touch wil magically work.

Is google down? https://www.mill-max.com/engineering-no ... connectors has some nice pictures and explanation what a pogo-pin is.
Now look at the waveshare display and feel enlightened.

From the waveshare wiki (OMG it' pogo)
Method 1: Connect the Raspberry Pi through Pigo Pin

Method 2: Connect the Raspberry Pi through GH1.25 13PIN

https://www.waveshare.com/wiki/3.5inch_RPi_LCD_(F) tells you how to connect the wires.
