If you have been using emacs for 40 years, so UNIX/Linux/BSD user, why use Windows11?
I did shrink Win11 NTFS partition and created some extra partitions where I put Debian Bookworm/Trixie/Testing and Opensuse Tumbleweed. So triple boot, never use Windows actually. So I could have also just wiped or overwritten Windows and just Linux only. I prefer Opensuse Tumbleweed KDE but maybe Ubuntu GNOME is what fits you better. Or something Xfce.
Other option is to use Virtual Box or so to run Linux in a virtual machine. But that still has a risk of issues/glitches with graphics I think.
