From the photo it looks like you are using a USB to sdcard adaptor, which certainly could fail with low voltage.But could this have such a bad impact as to cause the sdcard to fail? Isn't the power conditioned by the RPi5 PMIC before sending it to the sdcard ?
Do you have the same issue when you use the sdcard socket on the Pi5?
I am not sure that this is not a perspective effect of the photo, but the usb C and the daughter board that fits the Pi5 usb c does not seem straight? Also as the previous poster said, you appear to be using a usb to SD adapter. If so where do you plug it in?
Don't read too much into that photo. It appears to be lifted from the linked Tom's Hardware review (and not credited as such) rather than a picture of the actual setup in question.
