Python • Re: Where are docs for gpiod python bindings

The earlier version is basically deprecated. You need 2.x.x
It is deprecated but one doesn't actually need the latest, which seems to be 2.2.1 though there are some breadcrumbs which suggests there is a 2.3 somewhere, or coming one day.

I am hoping the mess surrounding 'libgpiod' is going to get resolved when Trixie arrives. Until then there are two challenges -
  • How to find documentation which applies to 1.6.3 and its Python bindings.
  • How to safely upgrade, install and set-up the latest version and Python binding, find the documentation which applies to that version and its Python binding.
I don't have an answer to either and, while I have built 2.x versions, I have never been sure using them is entirely compatible with what else is within the installed OS or kernel.

Given embedded help documentation for 1.6.3 doesn't reflect reality as it is on the Pi ( for example, 'gpioset --help' and persistence of output ), I don't know how correct any documentation on the Python bindings to 1.6.3 would be.
