Troubleshooting • Re: [RPi3] OS

I have several Pi 3s in use. They all have 64bit Raspberry Pi OS bookworm installed on 64GB sd cards.. Some people prefer to use "legacy" OS or 32 bit and report some improvement in performance on older Pis. I can't say that I noticed any difference in my use case when I tried.

I have some hardware that only works on a 64 bit kernel and I prefer to use just one OS across everything and also have PI5s and Pi400s. So, for me; it makes sense from a support perspective to use 64bit bookworm everywhere.

SD cards...Raspberry Pi produce their own now which is supposed to be much faster on the Pi5 specifically. Whether you will notice any difference on a Pi3; is another question. I haven't tried one yet because if I have to order one on its own; the postage makes it expensive. I plan to order one the next time I buy enough to get the free postage. Tight? You bet!

I have in the past; used mostly Samsung and Sandisk cards with good results.. Though I'm currently experimenting with some Chinese branded cards that were seriously cheap. So far I have been getting excellent result. Time will tell if that lasts.
