However, I think it may be an issue with the latest kernel. Looking at the most recent update packages, my Pi's were recently updated to 6.12.34.

While I probably wouldn't have thought in terms of the kernel, I did wonder whether it related to a later version of something OS related because my working xrdp installation was configured late last year while the two non-working ones, just this week.

EDIT: Yep! Just checked and the working xrdp installation is running on Linux 6.12.25+rpt-rpi-2712 aarch64 while the two non-working ones are both Linux 6.12.34+rpt-rpi-v8 aarch64.

So I might try an older OS version too. I'll ask a Linuxy friend of mine how I do that and post back here if I find out.
