experienced same issue with raspberry 4 model b and new os install (bookworm 12). changed Wayland X11 seemed to work
general steps:
installed xrdp > started xrdp> attempted windows rdp connection > session: xorg, raspberry username and pass> black screen
ran raspi-config > 6 Advanced options> A6 Wayland> W1 X11> Ok > Finish> Restart> rdp worked
