Networking and servers • WayVNC 0.9.1.1 connection problem

Hi all,

I'm having connection problems with WayVNC. I have four pis all configured to autologin a secondary user which runs a browser on a locked-down desktop, with a monitor and kbm attached. The pi user used to be able to connect just fine to that session over VNC, but seems to have stopped working in this most recent update. The two failing pis have WayVNC 0.9.1.1 while the two that I haven't updated yet are both on 0.9.0.

Broken pis:

Code:

pi@c:~ $ sudo apt list -a wayvncListing... Donewayvnc/stable,now 0.9.1-1~bpo12+rpt2 arm64 [installed,automatic]wayvnc/stable 0.5.0-1 arm64wayvnc/stable 0.9.1-1~bpo12+rpt2 armhfwayvnc/stable 0.5.0-1 armhf
Working pis:

Code:

pi@d:~ $ sudo apt list -a wayvncListing... Donewayvnc/stable 0.9.1-1~bpo12+rpt2 arm64 [upgradable from: 0.9.0~dev-1+rpt2]wayvnc/now 0.9.0~dev-1+rpt2 arm64 [installed,upgradable to: 0.9.1-1~bpo12+rpt2]wayvnc/stable 0.5.0-1 arm64wayvnc/stable 0.9.1-1~bpo12+rpt2 armhfwayvnc/stable 0.5.0-1 armhf
I'm using TigerVNC as the viewer and it fails with the error Invalid username or password, but I'm certain I haven't fat-fingered a dozen times. I found the following errors in the log on the affected pis:

Code:

pi@c:~ $ journalctl -t wayvncJul 16 16:04:17 nibhpoclient1c wayvnc[801]: pam_allow_desktopuser(wayvnc:auth): Login for user 'pi' rejected; another user is already using the desktop.Jul 16 16:04:19 nibhpoclient1c wayvnc[801]: ERROR: ../src/pam_auth.c: 70: PAM authenticate failed: Permission deniedJul 16 16:16:25 nibhpoclient1c wayvnc[801]: pam_allow_desktopuser(wayvnc:auth): Login for user 'pi' rejected; another user is already using the desktop.Jul 16 16:16:27 nibhpoclient1c wayvnc[801]: ERROR: ../src/pam_auth.c: 70: PAM authenticate failed: Permission denied
That doesn't seem to tie up with TigerVNC's error. I've updated the viewer to 0.15 having been on 0.13.1, and the problem persists. I'm not too familiar with pam to know if anything has changed there too, so any thoughts welcome!
