I was trying to use RPi.GPIO rather than gpiozero since I am working with a LCD1602 using a module based on RPi.GPIO. Studying things further I see that RPi.GPIO doesn't use hardware pwm even on pins that can use it. I m going to try rpi-hardware-pwm.
