If your Pi 5 media server is receiving from a USB DVB-T2 device while playing something off disk to a TV, is the decoder used only for playback?4kp60 hevc with hardware decode
I have a need to record up to two channels at the same time while playing something to the screen. Instead of microSD, it would be a Pi 5 with NVMe SSD over PCIe 3. Working out the maximum Pi 5 workload is not obvious to me as I have not found anything detailing when the hardware decoder is used. Just in playback or during recording?
I read articles like the following Jeff Geerling but they only covered playback. None had details about resource usage during recording. I used a Pi 4 for a previous Olympics but recorded only one channel in 2K to a USB 3 disk. The Pi 5 with NVMe looks like it could handle a lot more channels and in 4K.
