Troubleshooting • Re: Raspberry pi 3b does not boot

OK maybe it looks like it could be a generic USB power supply (that by the way works on my old Raspberry Pi 1) ,
I am not sure what happened to the original Raspberry pi power supply I used when it was going alright a few years ago.
Newer kernel, since a years or so, you can look it up on github, does use nominal clockspeed from the start, not a lower more powersaving value and then switching later. Of course that helps getting 'installation' done faster, especially when a 32-bit new bookworm image does generate 4x initramfs where only 1 is needed. But is also means at first boot, relatively high demand on PSU and Pi3B uses way more than a P1B or Pi0. Only Pi0 can work with 500mA from old USB2 style USB ports or PSUs I know, rest, I use GPIO feeding via own DC/DC converter set to 5.1V actually. Those microUSB connectors can be quite problematic as well after 10 years and maybe bad air conditions (stable for example).

..and the losses in the wires can be significant too.
