and how is that related to your question 'PCIe switches'? Just advertisement now?
My question originated from being surprised by the amount of add-ons offered on this one PCIe lane of RPI-5. The issue of sense and cost came up. I find this use of the PCIe lane more sensible and cost effective than most, because now any PCIe card out of some old computer can have a second life. The slot is even open-ended so please try out your 16-lane graphics card and let me know how it performs.

The answer to that is highly likely to be "poorly if at all". But why not try it yourself and let us know?

One lane instead of 4, 8, or 16. Earlier PCIe generation. Closed source drivers for some chip sets (NVIDIA). Insufficient 12v power available. Restrictions in features supported by PCIe on ARM.
