Side note: even with only the small (composite) display connected via the TV pin (and minimal additional hardware), the Adafruit Powerboost 1000C struggles to feed enough power: I can see the low battery red LED flickering for a couple of seconds, indicating that there is not enough power.
As an alternative, I have tried the (Lipo Rider Plus by Seeed Studio):

Luckily, this can feed enough power to the system (in normal situation).
(For the situation where a HDMI display is connected, it is still not enough by itself. I ended up using external power supply if HDMI is connected.)
