On a stock rpi4 GUI image, iirc all I did was....and chose the "sddm" window manager when prompted & rebooted. I seem to have it set to use X11 but that probably doesn't matter: I think I did that to get a tool called "barrier" to work.
Let us know if that works for the rpi5. It should.
