Thanks for the discussion, everyone. It turns out that there is a security device onsite to which I do not have access. This device is capable of port forwarding. So once I found the proper administrator and he did what I asked, I was able to contact the Pi. SSH was already working when accessed from inside the LAN. So now that I am able to login, I can proceed to find and fix the problems. OO (over and out).
