I'm working on a project where I convinced a public library to replace 50 windows pcs by 50 rpis.
Starting to think I'm commiting a professional suicide here... This is bad ! Each update on rpd components brings new errors... Wondering if updates are seriously tested before being released ! How come nobody noticed PCmanFM is just unusable ?
Note for the future which you have probably already learnt:- As with any multi-user network, stop any auto-updates.
As much as I like linux, its not ready for being imposed on the general public, I'd have gone for some N100 (or similar) based Windows computers. People (especially schools) expect to just use a computer, not face a learning curve because of the differences between linux and Windows.
I know this sounds defeatist but I've been in IT support, even operating an on-off button can become surprisingly complex ...... "I've.always held the button down for 10 seconds and its ALWAYS worked for me" or ...... "of course I can pull the power, I know it has a battery inside to save stuff" etc etc.
