How to find out how well your printer is likely to be supported:
- Go to openprinting.github.io
- First, browse the Driverless Printer link. Search for your manufacturer/model. It lists Canon MX512AirPrint™, which means that there's a good chance that your printer will work without additional drivers from Raspberry Pi OS with Desktop as long as the Raspberry Pi and your printer are on the same network.
- If it wasn't found there, browse the Legacy Printers link. If your printer is listed there, older drivers may work. There may already be a Debian package for that driver.
