as OP has the official 15.6in Monitor one could expect that it's complianat to HDMI spec (and the PI3 is powering the EDID EEPROM in the monitor), right?The PI often requires that the monitor is powered before you power on the PI. Reason being that it needs to read out the monitors ROM to find out the capabilities of the monitor. Some monitors can power the ROM through the HDMI cable, but not always.
