I think I'd phrase that as 'very high end DACs' but I agree that becomes the limiting factor eventually, hence it being separated out in for example the latest AKM and TI devices.ADAU17xx, PCM51xx... all of them use PLLs, which work well for the performance they are claiming... You never see PLLs in high-end DACs.
But if you're after that standard of audio performance which you didn't mention before then why limit yourself to one $1 MCU ?
And to USB, not Ethernet ?
Won't the D-types cost as much as the MCU ?The solution seem to be to tune my PIO to resync every frame and then have D flip-flops externally to attenuate the jitter.
