BD-DL holds a maximum of 50GB, so it is very questionable why you would choose that over modern Flash storage.
Any model of Pi has enough RAM to buffer multiple minutes of audio data. There is no reason for delays in the middle of a playlist. Even if you change playlist mid-track, the seek time of optical media should be less than a second.
