This is what I have discovered, from beating my head against UN-DOCUMENT CHANGES ! (Or at least I can not find where they are documented !)
If you carry forward from Bookworm your old ~/.config/wf-panel-pi/wf-panel-pi.ini it will send you down a rat hole ! The syntax launcher_0000n=xxx.desktop is no longer supported !
There is a new syntax that says what is on the launcher/taskbar (at least on the left hand side). The new syntax is launcher=name1 name2 name3 These are .desktop files.
The launcher appears (not 100% certain) to look for .desktop file in this directory search order
~/.local/share/applications (caveat)
/usr/share/raspi-ui-overrides/applications
/usr/share/applications
Caveat : "Something" will create .desktop files in ~/.local/share/applications with names like alacarte-made-n.desktop . If you create a file in ~/.local/share/applications with name alacarte-made-n+1.desktop and enter it on the launcher line in wf-panel-pi.ini it appear to be ignored ! Create your own uniquely named .desktop file in ~/.local/share/applications and include it on the launcher= line in ~/.config/wf-panel-pi/wf-panel-pi.ini .
The whole point of /usr/share/raspi-ui-overrides/applications appears to be to block some applications with a bogus .desktop file (htop.desktop is an example) I don't know why !
This all from EXPERIMENTATION so I could be WILDLY INCORRECT ! Please correct me if I am wrong !
