Thanks for the replies. But
a. The service won't start if called from the command line.
b. I haven't got any mpegs on the rpi to try running them
c. Where would I find rtsp sources on the web
d. The rtsp I am using runs on the desktop version of VLC.
Some of the other comments I don't understand, as my understanding of Rpi OS is limited.
The fact that the service won't run from the command line, but does from a reboot, is telling me something, I'm just not sure what.
Unfortunately it looks like this project is a lost cause, unless someone can help.
