I was wondering what kind of RAID would be used on drives of different sizes. Each drive is an independent RAID1 of just itself. The only real advantage of this scheme is that it would be easier to add mirror drives later.
Since both main arrays are trying to use the same number md/3, you will have to try renumbering one or both of them (but not changing name) in mdadm.conf to see if you get them both to assemble at the same time.
Curious that the first two small partitions on each drive are showing as raid members, but mdadm has done nothing with them. I assume these are for NAS firmware/OS/settings, so you will not need them. But out of interest, what does sudo mdadm --examine /dev/sdb1 say?
