Another post in this forum had a link to https://shop.pimoroni.com/products/nvme ... 9587178579, which is your adapter. One thing that stuck out for me was that all the drives listed as working were relatively new, and yes, there are some listed that didn't work, and in fact "prevented the RPi 5 from booting at all especially."
Btw my board is a PIMORONI RPI5 base nvme ssd , item# PIM699.
I did go on the pimoroni site, and confirmed my drive manufacturer is not on the list of incompatible drives or "maybe" drives. It just says most nvme drives should work.
But the list of non-working drives is relatively short, so not extensive, and certainly doesn't cover old, long-forgotten drives.
It also mentions that "Otherwise most M.2 NVMe drive (Not SATA!) you have lying around should work fine."
Don't know if your drive is SATA or true NVME since it's too old and has disappeared somewhat from the internet. Further argument for getting a new drive.
