That looks like progress to me. It's not high fashion but simple is often better.
I missed the memory cgroup issue before trying the install and banged my head on the wall before making progress.
Somehow cgroups became so complex that some people thought it a good idea to manage them with systemd. I did a web search and found that
Cgroup v1, the older version, is like an old filing system—a bit clunky and not as organized as it could be. Cgroup v2 is a sleek, modern upgrade, streamlining everything for greater efficiency and control.

I wish Fido had such a nice and positive attitude.

Here is a photo of a small file server in my office:
    SBC_fileserver.jpg
      Each SBC is connected to one SSD. Everything is mounted inside a single 3.5" drive bracket. Unfortunately, the SBCs were not Raspberry Pi computers. I've been planning to make a NAS using a Pi 5, but it's taking some time.
