Hi All,
I'm new to this world and this forum.
I found a similar topic (viewtopic.php?t=263285) but I see this discussion was already closed and my use case a little different so I hope this is not a duplication of an existing post.
On the right side of the diagram I represented the current system that I'd like to interface with. It's a led-strip connected to 24V transformer. The only way to control this light is by physically pressing the pushbuttons on the diagram.
My idea would be to connect the current remote to a Pico (W) board having the controller executing script to set light scenes and different timers during the day.
My use case presents to challenges that hopefully I can overcome with your help:
1) I'd like to draw power for the Pico(w) from the existing circuit. Would the 24v to 5v Buck Converter on the diagram be the right answer for me? (in particular, I found this one on PiHut https://thepihut.com/products/dc-dc-buc ... _6N6CkIy9X)
more challenging:
2) If I want the Pico to interact with the remote, do I need to interpose an octocoupler between the GPIO and the button on the remote that I'd like to press?
(black is GND, red is live wire, blue is GPIO)

Thank you in advance for your help
