Troubleshooting • segmentation fault

hi all,

apologies in advance for my lack of skillset here-

after almost 2 years of no major issues I received the ‘segmentation fault’ msg after updating my pi 4b the other day. started to see things like broken pipes/getting disconnected from my ssh sessions to the pi, etc. so from what i’ve read it seems like the filesystem could have some issues. I shutdown the pi & plugged the sdcard into my mac. ran the first aid tool in disk utility, things looked fine. unmounted, ran fsck & partition 1 came back looking healthy

ran this cmd to try and check the health on partition 2:
sudo fsck_msdos -y /dev/disk4s2

** /dev/rdisk4s2
Invalid BS_jmpBoot in boot block: 000000

I am wondering if I ran the right command there. if so I am wondering what my options would be from here.

the Pi still boots fine from the sdcard, but maybe not for much longer.

-are there any other useful commands or ways I should try to diagnose or repair partition 2?

I have my home directory backed up. any other files/directories I should try to back up if I need to wipe and restore? (and whats the recommended way?)

really appreciate any advice.

thanks!
