I see what you mean and it's possibly reasonably easy if one were committed to doing it.I meant that someone (or a collective) would fiddle around with the chip and document the key points independently of the manufacturer.
Pinout, tracking, components and values, should be easily determined even without a reduced schematic. Communications can probably be determined from public source code though there may be some reverse engineering and experimenting involved.
I was quite surprised to find how much of that has already been done.
I am now wondering how long it would take an AI connected to a test jig to figure out a chip and write a datasheet.
