As the Pi in question is connected to the LAN, I have disabled the WiFi connection in Network Manager.
48 hours on, I have seen no more instances of the message.

As I don't believe in coincidences, the fact that this has also meant I have not had to restart my mains networking modules (which I had to previously do a couple of times a day) points to the Pi WiFi not playing nicely on this machine.

Since the machine is the DNS and DHCP server for the network, I suspect the occasional network glitch was causing problems with the latter - but I will keep a close eye on it. For now, though, while the original issue isn't resolved, the side-effects are, which is probably more important.
