from your explanation I think should be ok. I want to use one trigger gpio for 2 PIO's, so PIO0 SM0 and PIO1 SM0 using WAIT PIN on same GPIO.
I do have another question, if I only IN 8 bits at a time, does the ISR contain 8bits plus zeros for the other 24 bits and autopushed into FIFO (one IN per full ISR) or can I input 4 x 8 bit samples into ISR then autopush (four IN per full ISR). It's a little confusing reading the data sheet.

interesting to know this, I'm pushing for maximum speed and the synchronizer would halve it
