I've just tried this on RPiOS desktop.

I have a pair of bluetooth headphones.
I right click the bluetooth icon on desktop, enable bluetooth, left click and "Add device"
From the list I choose "EarFun Air".

I then right click the volume icon and choose "EarFun Air" as the default device.
I can now hear system sounds through bluetooth (e.g. using youtube in browser).

Now I launch from desktop menu "Kodi Fullscreen" (so no special command line options).
In system/audio settings, I ensure audio output device is set to "Default, Default Output Device (PIPEWIRE)"
[Note: kodi has no knowledge this is a bluetooth device - it just outputs to pipewire - but in the OS I configured that to be bluetooth].

Kodi gui sounds and audio from videos played comes out of bluetooth headphones.


Now I'm sure the same behaviour is possible without using the desktop tools (kodi won't care how it's been configured),
but it's not something I've tried.

I'm suggesting you try this on RPiOS desktop, confirm it works and then you have a system to compare against.
