Most confusing.
Agreed. The link content is contradictory.

These dongles, with HDMI plug and a multi-pin socket, are usually provided with an attached SCART cable. They can do HDMI-to-SCART or SCART-to-HDMI, but you need the appropriate dongle.

I actually have each. The dongle marked 'output' is SCART-to-HDMI, came with a female SCART socket marked "input". The dongle marked "input" is HDMI-to-SCART, came with a male SCART plug marked "output".

It's pretty clear which way they convert if you physically have one, but not always so clear what any retailer is actually selling. I acquired mine cheap from people who bought the wrong one believing it would be the other :D

Assuming you get the right one, it's what I would recommend.

I would recommend buying something where it's clearer what the functionality is, from someone you can demand a replacement from if they send the wrong thing. Just an example - https://www.kenable.co.uk/en/hdmi-cable ... 20993.html
