Troubleshooting • Re: Raspberry Pi 5 8GB won't boot after pieeprom update - 9 green LED blinks

Sad news, it fixed my problem temporarily, but when I turn off or restart the Raspberry, the problem comes back again. I have to boot from the SD card with the firmware and then boot with the operating system
Flashing the firmware every boot will wear out the flash memory, so that seems like a bad idea, not to mention the tedium. I once updated the firmware on an Athlon X2 motherboard and it never worked again. That was irritating and explains why updating firmware on any working system should only be done after careful consideration. Said another way, I would be surprised if Raspberry Pi OS automatically updates the firmware without user intervention because that could affect reliability of any Pi computer used in a commercial and industrial application whether modified or not.

Unexpected updates can cause all sorts of difficulties. Did Delta Airlines win their lawsuit against CrowdStrike? As far as I can tell, both parties lost.
