Trying the standard Trixie 64-bit image on a Pi 4 4GB has been great so far. Flashed a nice fresh copy using Imager 2.0 today. A few notes below:
* Task Manager (lxtask) under-reports memory usage. This one really bothers me. Open Task Manager, note the Memory usage, then open a Terminal window and run 'free -h'. Compare the two numbers. I whined at James a few years ago about this one already but unfortunately nothing came of it.
* I have a 5-button mouse. Mouse button 5 (back button) doesn't seem to be mapped to go Back in pcmanfm, firefox etc. Would be nice if that worked out of the box (although I'd be more than happy if I could get some helpful advice on how to set this up in the meantime).
* A pet peeve of mine at this point when using RPi OS is having to manually edit wf-pi-panel.ini to rearrange the Launcher icons. Pretty please make these draggable? I'd settle for a right-click menu..
These issues aren't strictly related to Trixie as they have been around for a few years now, but I am disappointed to see they are still there.
The other side of the coin is that these are pretty minor issues and the system runs really well overall. The UI refresh is nice and the Control Centre is a huge upgrade. Video playback is working well. All while still using roughly 10x(!) less RAM when sitting on the desktop compared to w*ndows 11.
