I suspect the Imager is "ejecting" the reader (which may well be a USB device internally - mine is). The reader won't appear until it is unplugged (not possible) and plugged in again - or magic done with disk manager or whatever to reset it.
No doubt it shows up as a removable device.
If it were an external USB device it would be easy to unplug it and plug it back in again.
Maybe there is some way of ejecting the card instead of the reader?
I'm just guessing as I haven't used Windows for years.
