I use several different command line utilities to transfer files. Each has a specific purpose. But all of them use some form of gzip. If I enable gzip, the files won't transfer. It'll think about it for awhile, then not too long into the transfer the Pi will usually lock up and the only way to fix it is a hard reset (unplug the Pi). Which is unfortunate due to data loss. In some rare cases, a single 3kb file may transfer. But anything over 5kb and it'll crash. And if you do more than one file it'll crash. By default I've just started disabling gzip for everything. I can transfer files perfectly without gzip. Why is that?
