I must have been tired. I realize this was a silly question to ask. There's no OS on a Pico that would support C++ threads. Silly question ! So if I insist on being able to develop both on the PC and the Pico using an easy-to-switch cmake variable and conditions, I have to encapsulate that functionality into objects so that the code can support different implementations. Same for that matter, if I would run FreeRTOS on the Pico. It's a good OO exercise to design and implement although I'm not certain at this time if I'll get into it.
